Whew! What a day!! It was so jam-packed and eventful that I 've decided it needs it's own recap but I will do so in reverse order.
6:30 to 9:30 - First PTO meeting of the new school year. I went (in a rush) expecting it to be just the usual five of us and boy was I wrong. We had 25 Husky parents at last nights meeting. All I can say is "Wow". It was great to see so many parents willing to take time away from their day and hear what we have been working on and what we intend to do this year. There were so many that I was able to fill quite a few committees for our upcoming Carnival, too!!! Lets hope next month's meeting is as successful and that we didn't scare too many off:-)
6:00 to 6:30 - This was my fast transistion from soccer to dinner to homework. Wow, it worked but it was quick. Oh and Alijah was able to open his gifts for his birthday:-)
3:30 to 6:00 - This is basically where my evening began. I picked up Alijah and Aden from school and then headed to watch the Huskies smoke the Lincoln Lions in soccer. Alex had a great game and got quite a bit of playing time.
1:00 to 3:30 - I got the crazy idea to put all my Carnival ideas into a binder. So, instead of doing dishes or folding laundry, I spent the afternoon brain-storming and typing up different ideas for our evening meeting. In hindsight, I'm so glad I did considering how many people were there. Ari, Ashton and Easton continued to play all afternoon and finally "settle" down. They had been a little "full of it" since after school so it was a nice relaxing break.
12:00 to 1:00 - I spent at Pizza Hut with the pre-schoolers and Alijah. He had no idea we were picking him up for lunch for his birthday!! It was such a sweet surprise and he acted so much older in just the few short hours since I had last seen him:-)
11:15 to 12:00 - I spent part of this time in the dreaded Presby line. I don't know what I'm doing wrong this year but I can't seem to get thru this line quickly. I picked Ashton and Easton up and we headed to Harrison. Oh yeah, and I saw a REAL LIVE elephant down at the Lake City Bank parking lot. It's not every day you see an elephant:-)
9:00 to 11:15 - I spent this time at Owen's and Wal-Mart. I must say, my trip to Owen's was a success. I came away with a lot of goodies for only $59. I actually don't think I need to "grocery shop" again til next week. I have enough "stuff" here for meals. We may be eating soup and tacos but we will be eating, lol!!!
8:46 - This by far was probably the most meaningful point in my day. I was doing my daily pre-school run and listening to the radio as usual. I as was coming around the corner by Titus Funeral Home the radio announcer paused for a moment of silence to remember 9/11 and as I looked up and to the right there I saw grade school children wrapped around the flagpole praying!!! It was AMAZING!!! I will never lose that mental picture! And then on the radio, they started to play a new version of Bryan Adam's Heaven with voice over by a little girl. It was unbelievable!!!
7:00 - This is when I started to wake my beautiful blue-eyed, Alijah. It was his 8th birthday!!! Where does the time go? I have to admit. While wishing him a Happy Birthday, in the back of my mind I was remembering his 1st birthday. It's still so vivid to me. I was dropping Andrew off for kindergarten when the radio announced a plane went thru a building. I had no idea what was going on and needed to be at Alijah's 1 year picture appt. but I stopped back home and turned the tv on and was just in total awe. Numb, you might say. That day, changed our country as we knew it. I was 8 months pregnant with Aden. He , along with Ashton and Ari are "post" 9/11 babies. It is so hard to wrap your mind around. When Alijah was born we used to say you could remember his birthday because it was 9-1-1 but now that has a whole new meaning.
5:00 - Woke up and had No Idea what the day had instore for me:-)
