Last night, Alex took the mats for the very first time. I was a little nervous for him and from the way I saw him standing on the sidelines, I think he may just have been a little nervous too! The meet was well in to half-over when Alex got called to go. The kid looked so much bigger than him but once I looked at the pictures, I think my eyes just played tricks on me;) Alex did very well his first match. It went the entire time allotted and unfortunatley, he just couldn't get a pin. He was so close but he couldn't get the other guys second shoulder down. He won the match 11 to 2! After he was done, he was catching his breath, putting on his warm-ups and had just started chatting with us when all these kids started yelling. They said he had to go AGAIN!!! But this time, it was for the Varsity!!! I know if he really realized that at the time (we didn't know) but that match was hard. He was tired but boy did he give it his all and came back and WON!!! Needless to say, the Northwood fans, who were yelling like crazy, shut up as soon as he scored that 10th point:) I'm SO proud of all the hardwork Alex puts forth in any sport he does and his academics too!!! He was even in the Honors Program at school today;) I'm so proud of all his hard work!!! He's one AMAZING kid!!!!
