Easter Sunday Sermon

Well, Easter Sunday I felt like I was caught off guard a bit. I hadn't really had a chance to relish in the celebration of the day until I sat down for the Sunday morning sermon. Our church always starts out with an introductory song and the band began to play and they were rockin'! I was getting excited because I thought I heard them playing notes to a certain song but then I was like "no, not here". And sure enough, these words popped up....

When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
When I lay me down to die
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best

I couldn't believe it....they were really playing Spirit in the Sky. And then I thought, would our elders be rolling over in their graves? And then I thought, why not? Why not be excited about going to HEAVEN!!!! In those 20 minutes of music worship, I was just pumped. We went from Spirit in the Sky to one of my favorite hymns, Jesus Paid it All. My heart was literally saying WOOHOO!!! Why not be excited, happy and ready to celebrate Christ's Resurrection. For he Paid It All!!!!

Then, call me crazy, but this thought came to my mind! Can you imagine if Mary had a cell phone and could text? Can you imagine how fast the news of the tomb being empty would've traveled!!! Leave it to me to think of something so bizarre!!! Anyway, Easter service set the tone for my day and made it quite enjoyable and left me feeling truly blessed!!!
